1. How do I know which school my child will attend based on my new home?
School assignments are dictated by your Primary Residence Catchment. Every address in Peel (Brampton/Mississauga) and Waterloo (Kitchener) is mapped to a specific "Home School."
2. What is "School Capping" and how does it affect my move?
In high-growth neighborhoods like Mount Pleasant or Doon South, schools can reach full capacity. When "Capped," new residents are redirected to an "Overflow School" (often involving a bus ride) even if they live next door to the neighborhood school.
Engineering Equity: We perform a Utilization Audit for every client to identify if your target home is in a "Capped" zone.
3. Can my child attend a top-tier school like Turner Fenton (Brampton) or Cameron Heights (Kitchener) if we live out of bounds?
Only if they are accepted into a Regional Learning Choice Program (RLCP) like the International Baccalaureate (IB) or Integrated Arts. These programs have specific application windows (usually November) and may use a lottery or entrance exam. Simply living in the city does not guarantee access to these specialty streams.
4. Do we have to be Catholic to attend a Catholic school in Brampton or Mississauga?
For Elementary (JK-8), at least one parent or the child must be baptized Roman Catholic. However, Catholic High Schools (9-12) are open to all students regardless of faith. This is a critical strategic "Safety Valve" for families in overcrowded public catchments.
5. Does every school offer French Immersion?
No. French Immersion is a "Dual Track" or "Regional" program offered only at specific sites. For 2026, the Kitchener (WRDSB) board has introduced new boundaries for Grades 7-8 French Immersion.
Logistics Note: If your child is in FI, they may attend a different school than their siblings in the English stream.
6. Is school bussing guaranteed?
Bussing is based on Distance Eligibility (typically 1.6km for Elementary and 3.2km for Secondary). If you apply for a "Flexible Boundary" (attending a school you aren't zoned for), the board will not provide transportation. You are responsible for the daily commute.
7. How much does a top school ranking actually add to home value?
Data from 2025-2026 indicates that homes in "Top 10" Fraser Institute catchments (like Lorne Park or Vales of Castlemore) command a 5% to 12% premium and sell 30% faster during market corrections. A "School-Proof" home is your best hedge against market volatility.
